The instructions on the official Ruby on Rails website, were not working for me, so here is how it really works.

The most important part first: You have to setup a password for your account, otherwise it is not going to work.

Then open the Terminal (Go > Utilities > Terminal) and type

sudo gem update –system

hit ENTER.

Type your password and hit ENTER again.

sudo gem install rails

hit ENTER.

sudo gem update rake

hit ENTER.

sudo gem update sqlite3-ruby

hit ENTER.

now Ruby on Rails should run in the latest version!

There are many Articles around the web that describe how to install OS X on a normal PC. But there is no full guide who describes how to update 10.5.1 to 10.5.4. So here is it.

Upgrade 10.5.1 to 10.5.2

  1. Download the 10.5.2 Combo Update (search Google) 343MB
  2. Go to /System/Library/Extensions/
  3. Start Update
  4. When AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext apperars, move it to trash immediatly
  5. The install finishes, but do NOT click the restartbutton!
  6. Go to /System/InstallAtStartup/scripts/ and open the file 1 with a texteditor
if you can’t access the folder

    • rightclick > Get Info
    • at the bottom of the window it says Sharing & Permission, unlock it and click the plusbutton
    • Select your Username, press Select and change your permissions to read & write
  7. Find the string /System/Library/Extensions/Dont Steal Mac OS X.kext and replace it with /System/Library/Extensions/dsmos.kext
  8. Save the file and restart

After its launch, twitter has become one of the most popular sites in web 2.0.

But twitter can’t do everything web 2.0 has to offer. So there are many little external sites which use the twitter API to add special functionalities.

Send hearts, beer, tedies… via twitter.

This app connects your twitter account with your Google Calendar to easily tweet your  next events.

Yellow sites with website URLs of twitter users.

Download the little application and begin sharing photos, music, and video with twitter.

Tweet what you eat

As the title says: just tell everybody what you’re just eating.

Your favourite software in your pocket. Is it possible? YES, it is! offers a lot of free stuff for your USB-drive. For example Firefox, OpenOffice, Gimp… just doubleclick the downloaded file and install it to your portable drive. It’s really easy.

PS.: I’m just using PortableFirefox for writing this post, just to say: it really works.
